Kaspersky Lab's international competitors began using the ban on its products in US government agencies to discredit other IT companies owned by natives from Russia.

International IT-company NovaStor sent emails to its potential customers and partners in Europe with a warning that the use of software products of its Russian competitors - Kaspersky Lab, Veeam and Acronis - is unsafe.

In the letter NovaStor reminds that US state bodies recently banned the use of Kaspersky Lab's programs. "When using Russian software, for example from Kaspersky Lab, Veeam and Acronis, there is a danger that the data you are storing will be read," the document states. NovaStor also recalls the legal consequences of inadequate data protection and the European Data Protection Regulation, which will enter into force in May 2018 and establishes rules for data processing and their trans-border transmission, and will apply to all companies that have access to personal data of users from the EU.
